Additional Library Search seamlessly brings your library to your patrons' workflow, displaying your discovery layer alongside Google or Google Scholar search results. This support article details how to enable Additional Library Search for OCLC WorldCat users.
Prerequisites
Setting up Additional Library Search will require input both from your team and ours. To complete this task, you will need:
- A Source URL, View More link, and Document link
- Confirmation that the Mutual Customer Authorisation Form has been received and processed by OCLC
The process for obtaining each of these is detailed below.
Preparing your links
The first step of setting up this integration is to create some custom links for your dashboard settings. The process of doing this is straightforward and detailed below.
Source URL
In the URL below, replace:
[institute-ID-here]
with your OCLC institute ID (do not include the square brackets in your final URL).
https://discovery.api.oclc.org/worldcat-org-ci/search/summary-bibs?q=[search_query]&heldByInstitutionID=[institute-ID-here]&limit=15&s=false
View more link
The view more link will direct patrons through to your discovery layer for more information on a given resource. To create a view more link, please complete a search on your library’s WorldCat instance to obtain the OCLC discovery URL and domain, then replace the search keyword with:
[search_query]
An example of a before and after is included below.
Before
https://makebelieve.on.worldcat.org/search?queryString=neuroscience&changedFacet=scope&scope=sz%3A31367
After
https://makebelieve.on.worldcat.org/search?queryString=[search_query]&changedFacet=scope&scope=sz%3A31367
Document link
The document link will allow your patrons to click through to a resource from the Additional Library Search panel. In the URL below, replace:
[your-domain-here]
with your library’s OCLC domain into the below URL.
https://[your-domain-here]/oclc/[document_id]
Mutual Customer Authorisation Form
The next step of setting up this integration is to complete a Mutual Customer Authorisation Form and submit this to OCLC. It will not be possible to set up the integration until this has been done and processed on OCLC's side.
To receive the form, please contact support@leanlibrary.com , including in your message:
- Your request for a Mutual Customer Authorisation Form, specifying this is for the Additional Library Search feature
- Your Source URL, View More link, and Document link
- Whether you want Additional Library Search to appear on Google or Google Scholar (or both)
We will be able to support with the completion of the form once it has been issued. Once complete, the form should be sent to legal@oclc.org. Please copy in our support team when submitting so that we are notified when the process is complete.
Set-Up
When our team receive notification that the form has been received and processed, we will be able to complete set-up on your behalf within your Lean Library Dashboard. If you have any questions about the process, don't hesitate to reach out to the team and we'll be happy to help.
