While Lean Library extension's event reporting is anonymous and contains no personally identifiable data, it currently does not offer an opt-out mechanism as required by Mozilla's data privacy policies.
As a result, Mozilla has temporarily paused updates to our Lean Library extension on Firefox in May 2025. This means Firefox users are currently limited to version 2025.3.0, while updates continue as normal on other browsers.
How will this affect Firefox users?
Lean Library Workspace
Lean Library Workspace is available from extension version 2025.6.0 onwards, this means Firefox users will not be able to use Lean Library Workspace at this time. If you would like to use the functionality of Lean Library Workspace, please use alternative browsers, such as Chrome or Edge.
Opt-out of data collection
This will be an upcoming change to the Lean Library extension on Firefox and does not currently affect any users. We will be implementing an option to prompt all Firefox users for anonymous data collection, either:
Allow: Permitting anonymous data collection
Only essential: Opting out of analytics tracking
After an option is selected, they can carry on using the extension as normal
How will this affect the statistics reports?
If a Firefox user has opted out of analytics tracking, the extension will not be able to collect anonymous data, which would impact all usage statistics. Consequently, you may see a drop in all statistics reports, because these statistics will not report on those who have selected to opt out of analytics tracking on Firefox.
