When Lean Library is first introduced, some students may not yet know what it is or how it can support their studies.
Promoting Lean Library within your physical library can build awareness. Repeated visibility can also encourage students to download Lean Library and start using it as part of their research workflow.
Make Lean Library available on library computers
Installing Lean Library on library-managed computers allows students to experience its benefits while they are researching in the library. It can also encourage them to install it on their own devices.

Promote Lean Library on digital screens
If your library has digital screens, televisions or projectors, include Lean Library in your regular display rotation.
You can show the Lean Library promotional video on a loop or create a short slide explaining its main benefits. Include a QR code linking to your institution’s branded download page so students know where to go to download the extension.
Consider displaying the message near:
- Library entrances
- Help and information desks
- Computer areas
- Study spaces
- Training and teaching rooms
Display printed promotional materials
Use Lean Library posters, postcards and flyers to let students know that the service is available through your institution.
Place the materials in visible locations, such as:
- Library entrances and exits
- Service desks
- Computer workstations
- Printers and photocopiers
- Study areas
- Welcome and orientation displays
Involve library staff
Make sure library staff understand what Lean Library does and where students can download it. Staff can mention the service when helping students find resources, providing research support or delivering library workshops.
You could also include a short Lean Library demonstration in student inductions, information-literacy sessions and research workshops.
