We are committed to continually improving our service to provide the most accurate and useful insights for our users. To enhance the statistics we provide on active users, we have made several improvements to how we calculate and display active user statistics within the librarian dashboard.
Our improvements introduce a new "Engaged Users" metric that better reflects user interaction with our extension, improved clarity with hover-over definitions, enhanced differentiation in data visualisation, and adjustments to account for tracking issues during specific periods.
These improvements are designed to offer a more precise measurement of user engagement and provide librarians with a comprehensive understanding of how users are interacting with our extension, which helps in making more informed decisions based on reliable data.
How have we improved Active Users Statistics?
Introduction of the “Engaged Users” Statistics
To more accurately represent user activity, we've updated our user metrics. Active Users were previously defined as the number of unique users who used their web browser with the extension installed.
Introducing Engaged Users metric, which refers to:
1. Users who engaged with the extension (e.g., landing on a web page where the extension brought something to their attention).
2. Users who actively had the extension installed in the last month.
Enhanced Sign-Posting of Definitions
To improve clarity, we've introduced hover-over definitions. Simply hover over terms to see their definitions easily.
Clearer Differentiation on Graphs
With the new user definitions, we've updated our graphs to make distinctions clearer. Different shades of blue now represent different user metrics for better visualisation.
Estimated User Numbers for July and August 2023
To provide a more accurate reflection of usage during the period when tracking issues occurred, we've added a small percentage uplift based on your user data. This adjustment helps account for users who were not tracked during this time.
