If you're using our citation feature, you'll notice there are many citation styles available. However, there may be cases where a style needs adding or updating. In these cases it's possible to upload styles yourself via GitHub.
Some initial information: We use the public GitHub CSL repository to fetch our styles. CSL (Citation Style Language) is an XML based code that determines how the various metadata elements of a reference are formatted. For more information about CSL, please read the documentation found here: https://citationstyles.org/
How to submit a citation style to GitHub
If you're familiar with CSL and have a .csl format file that you'd like to upload, the first thing you'll need is an account with GitHub. These are free to create, simply go to https://github.com/ and follow the prompts to create your account.
Once this is done, please follow the detailed instructions for uploading new styles, or updating existing styles, which can be found at https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md
Please note that it can take up to 2 weeks for your style to appear in our styles list, and there's limited support we can offer regarding the use of GitHub as it's a 3rd party provider.
