What is Toc Alert?
ToC Alert enables your patrons to subscribe to table of contents (ToC) alerts of their favorite journals. When a new article is added to the journal, the users receive a notification via e-mail about it. And here is how it is done:
How does ToC Alert work?
When a user searches for anything on Google Scholar, we will scrape the journal titles and the authors from the search results. We will then send the information to CrossRef to retrieve the rest of the metadata including the DOI.
Once we have the metadata, we will send the metadata to JournalTOCs. Journal TOCs support almost 36,000 Journals, from over 3,700 publishers. It will automatically collect the new articles from different journals in one place, eliminating the need to check each publisher’s website for updates.
