Using the template file to import Assist Messages

If you prefer not to manually add every Assist Message one-by-one, there is an option to import them all at once.

To do this, please download the template file from here, or from the Lean Library Dashboard.

  1. To download it from the Dashboard please go to the Assist messages:

  2. Click on the Import button

  3. Click on the template" hyperlink to download the template message

How to use the template file?

Once you have downloaded the template file, you can add your Assist Messages, adjust settings, and import all of your Assist Messages into the Lean Library Dashboard at once.

Please find the explanation for how to adjust each column and how to set them up below.

Column 1 is for the protocol. You can select either http, https or both using *.

Column 2 is for the location (URL) where the Assist Message should be shown. Please add the URLs here.

Column 3 is for where the assist message should be shown. This column can have the following values: onCampus, offCampus, onAndOffCampus and diffBetweenOnAndOffCampus.

  • onCampus: use this value if you want the Assist message to be shown only to the patrons that are ON-Campus.

  • offCampus: use this value if you want the Assist message to be shown to patrons that are outside of Campus (OFF-Campus)

  • onAndOffCampus: use this value if you want an Assist Message to be shown on an URL to everyone (end-users both ON- and OFF-Campus)

  • diffBetweenOnAndOffCampus: use this value to show different Assist Messages on an URL to students ON- and OFF-Campus.

Column 4 is for the title of the Assist Message. This will be shown in the top part of the pop-up when displayed.

Column 5 is for the text of the Assist Message.

Column 6 should only be populated when we use distinguished Assist Messages. In that case, this field should be used for the title of the Assist message for ON-Campus.

Column 7 should only be populated when we use distinguished Assist messages. In that case, this field should be used for the Assist message text for ON-Campus.
​Column 8 can only have two values: 1 and 0. If we want the Assist message to be shown on every underlying URLs, add 1. Otherwise, use 0.

Column 9 indicates if the Assist Message should disappear by itself after a certain amount of time. If yes, use 1. If no, use 0.

Column 10 is used if you added 1 to the previous column (to make the Assist Messages automatically disappear). If you added a 1, you have to define the number of seconds after which the message should disappear. This value should be an integer number (e.g. 3 or 5).

Column 11 specifies if the Assist Message should be considered a "high priority message" or not. High Priority Assist Messages will overwrite any other popup on the given URL (including pop-ups like proxy access possible or open access article pop-up too).

Column 12 is for scheduled Assist Messages. In case of a scheduled Assist Message, you should specify the start date in this column. The format of the date should be year-month-day hour: minute

Column 13 is for scheduled Assist Messages. In case of a scheduled Assist Message, you should specify the end date in this column. The format of the date should be year-month-day hour: minute

Column 14 is for scheduled Assist Messages. In case of any scheduled Assist Messages, the Assist Message can be automatically deleted, or left in the list of Assist messages as being inactive. Put 1 to delete and 0 to be left inactive.

Column 15 is an identifier, it is a unique number for each Assist Message. If you want to add a new Assist message, please leave this blank.
