After you have set up e-resources domains and Proxy authentication system, we would recommend you to set up Automatic Import to maintain your e-resources up to date.
Once you have set up the automatic import, the EZProxy Configuration file will get import daily at night. Currently, there are two methods to do this automated configuration:
1. EZproxy Status Page integration:
The list of proxiable domains is collected through the EZproxy Status Page. To set this up, please provide us with an account that has access to the "/status" page on the
proxy-server.
Hosted EZproxy
If you have hosted EZproxy, you can ask the OCLC / EZproxy service desk (https://www.oclc.org/en/contacts/support.html) for these credentials.
Please send them this email below:
Hi,
We are implementing Lean Library and we would like a read-only account with access to the /status page of our EZproxy server
Regards,
Local EZproxy (or self-hosted)
If your library has a local EZproxy, please ask your EZproxy admin for the credentials.
Please can send them this email:
Hi,
To automate the e-resource configuration in Lean Library, we need a user with access to the /status page of EZproxy. Could you send me those user credentials?
Thanks in advance!
Test the read-only account
Lean Library dashboard will follow this format of URL to gain access into your Proxy Status Page, therefore, it is import to test the read-only account and ensure that it can take you directly to your /menu page:
https://PROXYDOMAIN/login?user=XXXXXX&pass=XXXXXXX
2. Importing the Proxy Configuration file through the config.txt
Lean Library can download the config.txt file from the URL or FTP server too.
With FTP, there are multiple sub-options:
-
FTP
-
SFTP with password
-
SFTP with the private key
Once set up properly, the e-resource domain list will get updated every 24 hours.
However, we strongly recommend using the Status Page integration because of the "messy" nature of the config.txt file. Status Page is more structured in comparison and it will usually provide more accurate import results.
Importing rules
Once the import has been set up successfully, we will import the EZproxy Configuration file every night.
Domains that are disabled manually in the dashboard will always stay disabled after every import.
Domains that were once imported but then later got deleted from the EZproxy configuration file will also be removed from the Lean Library dashboard after the next import.
